Consumer Transition
Account Integration
Your accounts will receive a new, unique account number that will replace the account number(s) you had with The Citizens Bank. Your new First Commerce account number(s) (referred to as a Member Number) will become active on November 2, 2020.
!! IMPORTANT !!
You will receive a letter from First Commerce containing your new account number during the week of October 19.
Any accounts you have with The Citizens Bank, including checking, savings, CDs and loans with the same SSN and mailing address will now all fall under one main member number, with shares and loans identified by a 2 digit ID.
Your checking and savings accounts are referred to as share(s) because they represent your ownership in the credit union. All credit union members are required to maintain a $5 balance in an active share account. If you have signed an Opt-In form, First Commerce will make this initial required deposit for you.
For example:
Marilyn is a member with First Commerce Credit Union. She has 2 share accounts (one checking and one savings) and 2 loans with the credit union. Her member number is 2012345.
Account Description | Sub Account ID | Full Account Number |
Savings | 00 | 2012345-00 |
Checking | 20 | 2012345-20* |
Auto Loan #1 | 13 | 2012345-13 |
Auto Loan #2 | 27 | 2012345-27 |
*DO NOT use this format for ACH or Direct Deposit. See MICR section for instructions
Automatic transfers, deposits and withdrawals will post to your account as usual. Rest assured, we will make sure your existing deposits get deposited to your account as they always have. You do not need to take any action for this to occur. For new automatic deposits, we ask that you use your new account MICR and routing number.
Your MICR number is your full checking account number. You will need this when setting up direct deposit, automatic deductions and ACH transactions to your checking account.
First Commerce’s routing/ABA number is 263182516. You should begin using the First Commerce account and routing number as of November 2, 2020. Please note: if setting up a new ACH payment/deposit (including direct deposit) to/from a checking account please also use the MICR number. Please direct any questions to our Contact Center at (850) 488-0035 or (800) 533-5772.
Payments made through The Citizens Bank Bill Pay must have a send date of October 30 or earlier. Payments with a send date after October 30 will not be honored through The Citizens Bank Bill Pay. Members who wish to continue using Bill Pay after November 1 will need to enroll in First Commerce digital banking and set up their payees and payment schedule on or after November 2.
You will receive your October statement as normal. After October 31, you will receive a final statement from The Citizens Bank system with transactions through October 31. All future statements from First Commerce will be sent monthly or quarterly (depending on account type) at month end and will include all transactions for the month or quarter.
Your new statements will include transaction information for all deposit and loan accounts to provide you with your full financial picture. Examples of accounts that are included in your statement are checking, CDs, mortgages and other types of loans.
Account history prior to November 1, 2020, will be available in The Citizens Bank online banking portal until March 31, 2021. To access the portal, visit FirstCommerceCU.org/MyAccount. For easy future access to this portal, be sure to bookmark the web page through your browser once you are on the site. While this information is still available through the portal, we encourage you to save your statements in a secure place in case you wish to access them in the future.
How Will the Transition Affect Your Services?
If you have a CD (including IRA CDs) or Money Market account with The Citizens Bank, your account number will change. However, maturity dates and rates on CDs and IRA CDs will remain the same. You will receive a separate mailing with your new account number. Visit this page for current rates and benefits for all products.
You may continue to use your checks issued by The Citizens Bank until your current supply runs out. Following the conversion date on Monday, November 2, we encourage you to order your new First Commerce checks and take advantage of a $20 discount on your first order by calling our Contact Center. Or you may email us at FCCUMemberServices@FirstCommerceCU.org and request that a team member contact you about ordering your first set of checks. This discount offer is good through April 30, 2021. Please Note: Checks ordered through a third-party company will not be eligible for the $20 discount.
We will mail your new First Commerce debit card to you in the third week of October. Your new card will arrive in a plain, unmarked envelope with activation instructions enclosed. Your First Commerce debit card can be activated upon receipt and will require you to set up a new Personal Identification Number (PIN). Please note, your debit card will not be available for use until the system conversion is complete on Monday, November 2, 2020.
You may continue to use your Citizens Bank debit or ATM card through the end of the day on Sunday, November 1. After this date, these cards will no longer be active. Members who currently have an ATM card will receive a First Commerce debit card.
After receiving your new FCCU debit card, be sure to update any recurring payments/subscriptions that occur after November 1 that are connected to your Citizens Bank debit card with your new card information.
If you have a loan with The Citizens Bank, your loan account number will change as of Monday, Nov. 2. You will receive a separate mailing with your new account number. Loan payment amounts and terms will remain the same. Any automatic payment arrangements you have made will not change. We offer a variety of convenient options to make your loan payments. Visit FirstCommerceCU.org/LoanPayments to see options.
Renewal dates will be extended until May 1 at no cost to you. You will receive a rental fee reminder with rates and details in advance of the renewal date.
