First Commerce Credit Union Awards 2017 MyWay Scholarships to Local Students
First Commerce Credit Union is proud to announce the latest winners in our MyWay Scholarship competition: Isabella Frazier and Samantha Skrob. Frazier is a Dean’s List student in international business at Southeastern University and Skrob Dean’s List biological science student at Florida State University.
Frazier works three part-time jobs and has begun paying off student loans while still in school, so that she will not face a large debt upon graduation. Her motto on money is “keep up, save up, and grow up!”
In Skrob’s essay, she described how she moved from the freedom of spending money without much thought to a budget, eventually coming to the understanding that “finances are not about how much money I could spend, but how much I could accumulate.”
Twice a year, First Commerce awards two $1,000 scholarships to members of our MyWay program who demonstrate excellence in school and beyond, which may be used toward school expenses including tuition, fees, and books. MyWay is First Commerce’s national award-winning program for 18-29 year olds, which includes a free checking account with free tools to help members stay on top of their finances, a nationally recognized automatic savings account that rounds up debit card purchases to the next dollar amount and deposits the difference, as well as a focus on financial education.
