In our commitment to continually improve your banking experience, we’re thrilled to introduce a new feature that makes it even easier to connect and manage your external account(s) within FCCU digital banking. Members will enjoy a faster way to connect accounts across various financial institutions in one place, making it more convenient to manage your money from transferring funds between accounts, making FCCU loan payments, viewing account balances and more.

Managing External Accounts FAQ

The Manage External Accounts feature allows you to easily add, verify, remove, and edit external accounts securely within First Commerce digital banking. The new and improved feature replaces older methods with an enhanced, streamlined process.
Consumer members can choose from two options. Business members have a Micro-Deposit option.Consumer Members: Add account via Instant Verification (PLAID) or Same-Day Micro-Deposits:
  • Log into your First Commerce digital banking account
  • In the Menu, select “Manage External Accounts”
  • Select the option for “Instant Verification” or “Micro-Deposits”
Instant Verification
  • PLAID will ask you to either register and make linking accounts even faster next time, OR you may choose to proceed as a Guest
  • You will then be presented with a screen to locate the financial institution you want to link to
  • Once you locate your external financial institution, you will be asked to log in to that account using the log-in information for that account (not your FCCU account)
  • After logging in successfully, you will receive a Secure Access Code by phone or text to the number you have on file with the external financial institution to verify access
  • Once you enter the Secure Access Code, the connection to your external account will be complete
Same-Day Micro Deposits
  • Select Instant Verification and scroll to the bottom of the screen titled, “Select Your Institution”
  • Select the option to “Link with account numbers”
  • Enter the routing number of the external account you want to link to
  • Sign into your external account after verifying access with the Secure Access Code that will be sent to you by phone or text
  • Next, select the external account where you want the micro-deposit to be sent and then authorize the deposit
  • Look for a $0.01 deposit in your account accompanied by a verification code
  • Enter the verification code and your external account will be connected
Business Members: Add Account with Micro Deposits (1–3 Business Days):Business names can vary across accounts at different financial institutions, which means the verification steps to connect an external account within your FCCU account may take a little longer. However, the steps to add an external account to your FCCU digital banking are simple.
  • Select the option for Micro-Deposits
  • Enter the account and routing number from the external account you want to add
  • Watch for two small deposits sent to your external account within 1–3 business days. Verify the amounts in online banking to link your account.
Once you’ve added an external account, you can:
  • Verify pending external accounts
  • Edit the nickname for linked external accounts
  • Remove external accounts if they are no longer needed
  • The external account linking feature is powered by Plaid, a vendor that connects more than 11,000 financial institutions across the United States, Canada and Europe. Plaid powers thousands of financial transaction apps including familiar brands such as Carvana, Affirm and Chime.
  • In order to add, remove, or verify an external account, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is required to ensure only the accountholder is authorized to make changes. MFA uses Secure Access Codes sent by text or phone call to the phone number associated with your First Commerce account.
Name verification requirements for businesses can take a little longer so the Add via Instant Verification option isn’t currently available for business accounts. Instead, business members may use the option for Micro Deposits in 1-3 Business Days to link external accounts.
Yes! The Manage External Accounts feature is available on both desktop and mobile versions of FCCU’s online banking platform.
