What Is a Wire Transfer?
A wire transfer is an electronic transfer of funds between financial institutions. Because wire transfers are typically processed the same business day and are not easily reversed, they are often used for time-sensitive transactions such as real estate closings or large purchases.
How to Send or Receive a Wire Transfer
What you’ll need:
- A valid government-issued photo ID
- The receiving financial institution’s wire instructions
- Information for the recipient of the funds
- Time for member verification and review by the First Commerce team
How to get started:
- Start your request in person at a financial center or by phone
- For security reasons, outgoing wire transfers cannot be requested by email
- Wire requests received before 3:00 PM (EST) on a business day may be processed the same day

- Wires are not processed on weekends or federal holidays
