Staying One Step Ahead of Fraud This Travel Season
Travel season is here!
Before you head out, take a quick look at these simple tips to help protect your money and personal information while you’re on the go.
Travel scams to watch for
Be cautious when booking or planning:
- Fake travel websites offering deals that seem too good to be true
- Emails or texts asking you to “confirm” flight or hotel details
- Rental listings that require payment outside of trusted platforms
If something feels off, pause and verify before booking.
Use secure connections
Public Wi-Fi is convenient, but comes with risk:
- Avoid logging into banking or apps on public networks
- Use your cellular data or a secure connection when possible
- Never enter personal or payment information on unsecured sites
Tips for staying secure online
Keep an eye on your card
Stay one step ahead while traveling:
- Turn on transaction alerts to catch activity in real time
- Check your account regularly during your trip
- Lock your card instantly if something doesn’t look right
