Meet the 2026 MyWay Scholarship Winners: Delaney Ding
First Commerce Credit Union’s investment in the communities it serves extends to helping individuals advance their education, enrich their lives, and pursue brighter financial futures.
That’s why First Commerce awards four $1,000 MyWay Scholarships each year to exemplary students in North Florida and South Georgia who are advancing their education at colleges, universities, and technical schools.
Meet Delaney Ding, one of the 2026 MyWay Scholarship winners, whose diligence and work ethic shone through beyond what’s on paper.
Delaney Ding, Tallahassee
University of Florida College of Medicine
Delaney is enrolled in the university’s dual degree MD-PhD program. Delaney’s degree program requires four years of medical school and four years of PhD research training, which he has chosen to focus on epidemiology.
“I’ve always dreamed of wanting to serve patients in a healthcare setting, individually, sort of one-on-one as a clinician. But as I went through my education, and specifically in college, I gained some really eye-opening, enlightening experiences in research, and how that kind of work could impact patients and patient care at a sort of broader level. And so, I realized I wanted a career that integrated the two.”
How has receiving the MyWay Scholarship helped you in pursuit of your education?
“I’m incredibly honored to have been chosen as one of the recipients. It means so much to me. I grew up really being taught the importance of having, I would say, a responsible mindset in handling finances and handling money. And I think it’s played a role for me throughout the years of having that buffer, having flexibility and freedom to be able to invest in myself and my studies.”
First Commerce has awarded the MyWay Scholarship for more than a decade, selecting winners based on criteria including grades, community service, leadership, school activities, and work experience.
