Meet the 2026 MyWay Scholarship Winners: Vraj Patel

That’s why First Commerce awards four $1,000 MyWay Scholarships each year to exemplary students in South Georgia and North Florida who are advancing their education at colleges, universities, and technical schools.
Meet Vraj Patel, one of the 2026 MyWay Scholarship winners, whose diligence and work ethic shone through beyond what’s on paper.

Vraj is studying business management at the University of Georgia as he pursues a career path in hospitality management. Vraj, who spent part of his summer doing a study abroad program that took him to places like Finland, Sweden, and Estonia, described having a goal of working his way up to hotel management.
Vraj said that his study abroad experience included studying startup businesses.
“Seeing businesses in America and businesses in those countries, it’s completely different. Very tech-savvy and focused, it was very cool.”
How has receiving the MyWay Scholarship helped you in pursuit of your education?
“It helped out tremendously. Recently I was on a study abroad trip. And studying in a foreign country, obviously it costs money. It helped me to be able to go and enjoy that experience, and kind of reduce that burden.”
First Commerce has awarded the MyWay Scholarship for more than a decade, selecting winners based on criteria including grades, community service, leadership, school activities, and work experience.
