Meet the 2026 MyWay Scholarship Winners: Yazmin Martinez

First Commerce Credit Union’s investment in the communities it serves extends to helping individuals advance their education, enrich their lives, and pursue brighter financial futures.

That’s why First Commerce awards four $1,000 MyWay Scholarships each year to exemplary students who are advancing their education at colleges, universities, and technical schools.

Meet Yazmin Martinez, one of the 2026 MyWay Scholarship winners, whose diligence and work ethic shone through beyond what’s on paper.

Yazmin Martinez, Valdosta

Valdosta State University

Yazmin recently graduated from Valdosta Early College Academy, and will be attending Valdosta State University to do the engineering transfer program. The program allows students to fulfill at least two years of study toward a bachelor’s degree in engineering, with a pathway to transfer into another university to complete the degree. Yazmin said she currently plans to transfer to Georgia Tech for her final two years.

Yazmin added that she ultimately wants to become a civil engineer when she has completed her degree program.

How has receiving the MyWay Scholarship helped you in pursuit of your education?
